In 2004, Public Act 04-164 was signed into law requiring all hospitals and surgery centers in this state to contract with an approved patient safety organization to improve upon existing patient safety and quality improvement programs in place within the health care delivery system. Following this act, the ASC PSO, LLC was approved in 2005 and specifically created to address the patient safety concerns within the ambulatory setting. Twenty-nine facilities participate in the ASC PSO, LLC, including multi specialty, orthopedic, endoscopy, and eye care facilities.
